The Dev Team has released an update to the iPhone Pwnage Tool program today – to Version 1.1.  The application will auto-update if you’re running 1.0 of it already.

Here’s the list of changes and fixes from the Dev Team press release:

That’s right – you guys thought it was a prank, maybe an April fools joke. It’s not. I met today with Nilay over at Engadget and surely he was surprised. We let him take a swing at it and he did it all by himself – oh and then there were a few smart remarks involving us laughing at him. What a joker.

The tool’s name is Pwnage Tool. The main goal is for you to “PWN” your phone, and then be able to restore it straight to an unlocked/jailbroken state (hence the “PWN”) from right within iTunes.

The iPhone Devs have been working around the clock to bring you this tool – and by golly they’ve done it. Oh, and everything legal, Pwnage is 100% within the law. We at The iPhone Project are proud to present on behalf of the Dev Team: Pwnage Tool.

iPhone DevTeam PRESS RELEASE

The “DevTeam” would like to announce the immediate withdrawal from the iPhone development arena.

It was anticipated that the DevTeam would be releasing a tool for the iPhone sometime this week, unfortunately it has been decided to withdraw all development activities on this tool.

Criticism of the validity of the tool has been reported in the press and certain actions were taken to prevent the release of the tool on the 30th March.

Due to these actions, certain developers ceased their work immediately, with others reconsidering their position.

On Monday the 31st of March the DevTeam was approached by an unnamed party to sell all of thei intellectual property and related applications.

After much consideration the offer was accepted and work has ceased.

The name of the company that has made this offer is private, and the details of the deal are confidential.

Our only comment is that Pwnage Tool and other such applications will not be seen outside of the lab.

We would like to thank our users for their support over the last 10 months.

As of tomorrow, Sunday, March 30′th, the long awaited project iPhone PWNED will be available to the public! – it’s what we’ve seen on YouTube and many of us have disbelieved. However, it is real and allows for custom unsigned firmware to be flashed on to the iPhone.
