Apple iPhone feature chart

Apple’s Knowledge Base once again steps up in the handy-dandy reference chart department with a feature check-list showing highlighting some major features supported by all iPhone models, by the iPhone 3G and iPhone 3G S, and by the new iPhone 3G S alone.

There are some caveats, however:

  1. Peer-to-peer connectivity requires compatible applications, which can be downloaded from the App Store when available.
  2. The original iPhone does not support using Bluetooth for peer-to-peer connectivity. It can use Wi-Fi and cellular data networks for peer-to-peer connectivity.
  3. MMS is not available in all areas; fees may apply. See your carrier for availability.
  4. Internet tethering is not currently offered in the United States and some other countries. See your carrier for availability.

AT&T to sell iPhone without contract for $599

AT&T, Unlock, ops March 23rd, 2009

NEW YORK (AP) — AT&T Inc. said Thursday it will start selling iPhones without requiring a two-year contract, but they will cost $400 more.

Spokesman Michael Coe said AT&T will sell the phones starting next Thursday for $599 or $699, depending on the storage capacity. The two models cost $199 or $299 under contract.

The phone company had said in July, when the latest version of the iPhone was launched, that it would sell contract-free phones in the United States. Such phones are sold in some other countries.

The new phones will still be “locked” to AT&T and won’t work with any other cellular carrier unless they’re modified. AT&T will only activate them on the regular iPhone plans, which include a $30 monthly charge for data access. Prepaid service will not be available.

Apple Inc., the maker of the iPhone, has been selling the device from its stores and Web site, but would not say if it would sell the contract-free version.

Apple is widely expected to release a new version of the phone this summer.

AppStore, apps October 6th, 2008

Back in April I wrote about the availability of fring on the iPhone

You may recall that fring is a VoIP application lets you use Skype, MSN, Google Talk, ICQ, Twitter, Yahoo!, and AIM clients to chat and instant message. Well, the good news is that fring is available now for free in the Apple App Store.

Fring team have added many new features to this version including ‘history tab’, ‘privacy settings’, ‘easy dialing from the main buddy list’ and many bug fixes.

This is a brand new, straight from the oven fring version (V1.0.1.4)

Trick. Original version doesn’t support VoIP over 3G. It was intendent due agreement with mobile operator. You can remove the restriction installed modification version of Fring

Great iPhone trick not everyone knows

tricks September 16th, 2008

Today i realised myself useful iPhone trick. When you have a call with someone and need to check information on your iPhone e.g. SMS or e-mail data, some necessary note or contact phone number you don’t need to hang up. Just press Home button once and you will return to the home screen. You will see ”touch to return to call” green banner at the top of the phone.

You can run any application you want. But you can’t use 3G/GPRS/EDGE requests while you calling. When i was trying to run Weather or Stocks apps i got an error message ”Cellular data connections are not available during this call”. To return to you call screen you can touch on the green banner or just press Home button twice.

Good luck :)
