T-Mobile improves support for iPhone and Samsung suit booted from court

iPhone, news, T-Mobile January 30th, 2012

T-Mobile doesn’t officially sell the iPhone on its network, but has more than 1 million unlocked iPhones operating on its networks despite the fact. The catch is that the unlocked iPhones operating on the T-Mobile network don’t work that well according to most users. The reason is that the iPhones operating on the network only have access to T-Mobile’s old 2G network, because they lack the support for T-Mobile’s 3G spectrum. The good news for iPhone users on T-Mobile is that the carrier is planning to improve the support for iPhones starting on January 30, which is today. The carrier is adding a special iPhone support page, which will help iPhone users that need assistance. Alas, the phones was still be only 2G capable. Last week Samsung saw its second 3G patent suit against Apple rejected by the courts. The suit in question was in German courts, the judge Andreas Voss rejected Samsung claims without a clear explanation of why. I would imagine Apple doesn’t really care why, it’s just glad the claims are rejected. I doubt this is the last time we hear of lawsuits between Samsung and Apple.

Qmadix boostpac batteries, unlocked iPhones have bad performance says T-Mo, Lytro iPhone not currently possible

iPhone, news, T-Mobile January 26th, 2012

At MacWorld 2012, a couple new battery packs have surfaced for the iPhone. The packs are the Qmadix quick shot and eclipse with one for the desk and the other for on the go. T-Mobile documents have surfaced that claim unlocked iPhones have poor network performance . The document says that only 2G speeds are possible with the iPhone on its network thanks to the lack of WCDMA 1700/2100 bands. If you are hoping for a Lytro iPhone using light filed technology to come soon, you are out of luck. You can read why this is a long ways off here .

AeroDream One media player, AT&T may not have to pay fee if merger fails, T-Mobile to start iPhone 5 pre-order

AT&T, news, T-Mobile September 5th, 2011

The AeroDream One has to be the largest and most powerful media player ever. The thing is so tall you need a ladder to get to the dock for the iPhone and it has 10,000 watts of power for a cool € 399,000. AT&T may not have to pay that rumored $6 billion breakup fee if the merger with T-Mobile fails. Apparently, if T-Mobile loses too much value or if the merger isn’t approved quickly enough AT&T doesn’t have to pay. T-Mobile is reportedly starting to take pre-orders on the iPhone 5 today. This is despite the fact that we have no idea what the phone will be called, when it will launch, or what the phone will cost. The coupons given don’t specify a name or launch date.

1M iPhones on T-Mobile, Apple expected to lose Appstore battle, appBlaster gun for iPhone

App Store, game, news, T-Mobile June 23rd, 2011

T-Mobile USA has let go with an interesting statistic. The network has over a million iPhones on its network even though it doesn’t offer the device. Apparently, the users cut down T-Mobile SIMs to work but don’t get 3G or 4G data speeds. Apple took Amazon to court for trademark infringement when Amazon launched its Appstore. The judge in the case has now said she will probably rule against Apple’s request to force Amazon to ditch the name because there has been no proof of confusion with customers. A cool accessory for the iPhone turned up called the appBlaster . It is a gun that works with an AR game letting players shoot aliens in their home.
