Apple, news, tim cook March 19th, 2012

Apple’s Tim Cook famously stated not long ago that Apple had too much money. Apple has decided to take some of that $10 billion it has laying around and repurchase shares and pay out a dividend to shareholders in Q4 working out to $2.65 per share. The GeChic On-Lap 1302 13.3-inch external display will connect to your iPhone with the proper cable and adapter. The screen will give you a much larger external display for watching video with a resolution of 1366 x 768. Foxconn has announced that it will take legal action against the producers of This American Life. The radio show has admitted to partly falsifying a report on Apple workers and retracted the story.

AT&T offers settlement to plaintiff in data throttling suit

AT&T, iPhone, news March 14th, 2012

A man filed a lawsuit against AT&T in small claims court recently. The man’s name is Matthew Spaccarelli. Apparently the man won in small claims court to the tune of $850 when the judge ruled against AT&T after deciding that AT&T had in fact broken its promise to provide unlimited data service. The man then began encouraging other AT&T customers to sue and even went so far as to post the documents he used to win his case online. AT&T was having none of that and tries to silence the man with the threat of canceling his service. AT&T apparently wanted him to remove the documents from the Internet and sign an agreement that he wouldn’t talk about case. Spaccarelli decided he would prefer to shame AT&T as much as humanly possible rather than sign a nondisclosure. Apparently, the guy admitted to tethering is iPhone, which is against AT&T’s policy of allowing users to do anything useful with their service. That is what AT&T was using to threaten termination of service. [ via SlashGear]
