HOW TO: (Apparently) Enable HDR Feature On iPhone 3G/3Gs Running iOS 4.1

Cydia, iOS 4.1, iphone 3g, news September 12th, 2010

HOW TO: (Apparently) Enable HDR Feature On iPhone 3G/3Gs Running iOS 4.1 Post from: FSMdotCOM A few days ago, we told you that HDR photos are coming to the iPhone 3G and 3Gs via a Cydia Package. Apparently you can enable the feature manually, editing a .plist file. I say apparently, because : 1. It didn’t work for me 2. You need to have a jailbroken iPhone 3G/3Gs running iOS 4.1 ( unofficial methods ) So, first of all you need to jailbreak iOS 4.1. There is no official jailbreak for that but you can jailbreak it using redsn0w on 3G ( you are better off, trust me. If you want to try, just point redsn0w to stock 4.0 ) , or using PwnageTool on 3Gs ( here and here ). Once you are jailbroken, install openSSH, SSH into your device and browse to: iPhone 3G: /System/Library/CoreServices/SpringBoard.app/ – copy N82AP.plist on your desktop iPhone 3Gs: /System/Library/CoreServices/SpringBoard.app/ – copy N88AP .plist on your desktop Now you will need to edit that plist by adding a key named

iOS 4.1, news September 8th, 2010

New Boot Level Exploit Has Been Found. New Jailbreaking Tool On Its Way… Post from: FSMdotCOM Just a quick heads-up: a new exploit has been found, and a new jailbreak tool seems to be on its way. Pod2G ( found the 24kpwn exploit back in the days ) and p0sixninja are the proud owners of a new boot level exploit, which means that Apple is no longer able to block the jailbreak unless they upgrade the hardware in all iOS devices. That’s all the info we have, but we will keep you updated. Stay tuned… PS: STAY AWAY FROM iOS 4.1

New TinyUmbrealla Preserves iPhone 4 Baseband When Upgrading To iOS 4.1

iOS 4.1, iphone 4, news September 7th, 2010

New TinyUmbrealla Preserves iPhone 4 Baseband When Upgrading To iOS 4.1 Post from: FSMdotCOM iPhone 4 is a little bit different when it comes to baseband upgrades. If you update to a new iOS release, that will upgrade the baseband, you will be able to restore to a previous iOS and downgrade the baseband IF Apple is still signing that iOS. For example, if you update to iOS 4.1, your baseband will be upgraded to 2.10.4. BUT as long as Apple still signs iOS 4.0.2 you can downgrade to it, and the baseband will be downgraded as well to 1.59.00. Because of that, notcom updated TinyUmbrella which comes with the following changelog: Baseband Protection – Updating to 4.1 using TinyUmbrella will protect your baseband from update. THIS ONLY APPLIES TO IPHONE 4!!!!! If you have a 3G or 3GS and you update to 4.1 your baseband will likely be updated. SHSH Retrieval from Cydia – If you don’t have your SHSH locally, TinyUmbrella will request them from Cydia on-demand; allowing the restore to continue Automatically point hosts to Cydia – Once you close TinyUmbrella, it points your hosts file to Cydia (for further baseband protection and update/restores without TinyUmbrella) Download TinyUmbrella here … NOTE: DO NOT update to iOS 4.1 if you want to preserve your jailbreak/unlock. We will have more info and tutorials in the coming days/weeks
