1M iPhones on T-Mobile, Apple expected to lose Appstore battle, appBlaster gun for iPhone

App Store, game, news, T-Mobile June 23rd, 2011

T-Mobile USA has let go with an interesting statistic. The network has over a million iPhones on its network even though it doesn’t offer the device. Apparently, the users cut down T-Mobile SIMs to work but don’t get 3G or 4G data speeds. Apple took Amazon to court for trademark infringement when Amazon launched its Appstore. The judge in the case has now said she will probably rule against Apple’s request to force Amazon to ditch the name because there has been no proof of confusion with customers. A cool accessory for the iPhone turned up called the appBlaster . It is a gun that works with an AR game letting players shoot aliens in their home.

Preview Of Real Racing 2 HD And Dual-Screen Gaming With iOS 5 On iPad 2

App Store, Apple, apple tv, AppStore, game, gaming, hdmi, ios, iPad, ipad 2, news, nintendo, video June 17th, 2011

For this game, you use the iPad as the controller — both while navigating through menus and in race mode — while the game appears only on your TV (though the tablet does display some vitals, and a map of the track). There’s noticeable lag between the iPad and Apple TV when using AirPlay, which may be an issue for games where timing is important, such as Rock Band, but didn’t seem to set us back while playing Firemint’s racing game. Overall, AirPlay offered a seamless gaming experience without a single hiccup — surprising, considering iOS 5 just hit beta last week. It’s difficult to do this hands-on justice without a video demo, so jump past the break for an exclusive look at wireless, dual-screen gaming on the iPad and Apple TV. [ via ]

OnLive: Cloud-Based Video Game Streaming Service Coming To The iPad This Fall [video]

Android, game, iPad, ipad 2, news June 10th, 2011

Cloud-based video game streaming service OnLive unveiled support for tablets with new iPad and Android apps that will release in the U.S. and Europe this fall. Like the company’s MicroConsole TV Adapter and Windows/Mac application, the OnLive Player App for iPad and Android will enable subscribers to stream and play “virtually all” of its 100-plus-game catalog on demand. Gamers will be able to use the devices’ touchscreens or OnLive’s new Universal Wireless Controller to play. The OnLivePlayer App also integrates with HDTVs so subscribers can use their tablets as touch/motion controllers with their display. The app will feature full voice chat-enabled multiplayer. OnLive says it will provide “the exact same functionality” on Apple and Android smartphones, too, allowing them to be used as game systems themselves or as controllers with an HDTV or PC. Furthermore, the company revealed a 10 gigabit cloud-based browser or iPad, Android, and HDTV, which is designed to to deliver online content through the 10 gigabit/second web connections on its cloud-based servers. “The power of the cloud is definitely the theme this week, displacing what had been assumed to be platforms that could never be displaced,” says OnLive founder and CEO Steve Perlman.
