A Japanese research firm announced recently that Android was ahead of the iPhone in market share in Japan. However, Apple is the most popular smartphone brand in the country. A driver left his truck in the driveway running to warm up with his iPhone on the front seat. A thief came by and took the truck and the owner used the iPhone GPS to track the phone and led police to the vehicle and it was recovered. Third Rail case helps keep your iPhone 4 running longer with a cool removable battery pack. The combination of the iPhone control and the Kinect makes for an interesting mix.

Kickstarter Week #1: Wudskins iPad Case

If you want to protect your iPhone 4 in a case that will meet military specs and looks interesting, the Military Grade iPhone 4 case might be perfect for you. The case sells for about $100 on Etsy. Best Buy is clearing away some space for the white iPhone 4 on its shelves. The device will apparently be landing soon, but we have no exact date at this point. Apple will launch iOS 4.3 on February 14 according to a rumor. If true, that would put it at the start of MWC 2011.

David Pouge posted up a review today of the Verizon iPhone 4 and noted in the original review that the device on AT&T would get tethering on Feb 13. That part has been removed from the review now, likely forced out by Apple ninjas. Best Buy has announced that on February 10 it will sell the Verizon iPhone 4 to all customers. The device will be offered in every Best Buy location around the country, at least if supplies hold up. PADACS has unveiled a pair of new cases for the iPhone 4 that have batteries inside. One has a 1600mAh battery for $49.95 and the other has a 2200mAh battery for $59.95.

One of my favorite scenes in Monty Python and the Holy Grail is where they start attacking the French castle with a catapult loaded with cows. An iPhone app is coming soon that will let you fling cows all you want called Monty Python Cow Tossing and it should land in the next few weeks. Cooler Master has announced that it will be showing off new Choiix Power Fort gear at MWC 2011. Among the gear it will show off is an interesting sounding case for the iPhone 4 with an internal battery and a solar panel on the back. We had heard that Apple was changing the in-app payment rules earlier in the week and that the change might affect the Kindle reader app. Apple has denied that the rules have changed and Cupertino says that it is simply enforcing a rule that has been in effect for a long time now.

It looks like Yoison, the company behind the Apple Peel, is already working on a next-generation Peel that brings several additions to the table. The most apparent change is a redesigned case that makes the iPod touch look like an iPhone 4. Other changes include added support for Apple’s fourth-generation iPod touch (the current Apple Peel 520 supports the third-generation model), and GPRS data support in addition to EDGE. Unfortunately, however, it looks like 3G is still off limits. A new femtocell called the world’s first attocell has debuted and it was designed for the iPhone, but works with any 3G phone. It’s made to allow people that travel to make phone calls and receive calls just as if they were at home over the internet. ID8 has announced a new case for the Verizon and AT&T iPhone 4 models that is called the Mogo Talk XD2 . The new case has a Bluetooth headset that charges and docks on the back so it is with you at all times. The Apple Store was down for a bit this morning and some hoped the white iPhone 4 might be landing. The store came back up with no white iPhone.

Transparent iPhone 4 Case Mod Post from: FSMdotCOM In the past, we showed you a great  metallic mod for your iPhone 4 , a PwnApple metallic mod , and even though Apple is trying to put iPhone modders on lockdown with Pentalobular screws , today we got an even better mod.  An enterprising iPhone user got his hands on a  clear case mod kit for the iPhone 4 , ( Google translation ) put it together and posted the fantastic results online. Later edit: we were so blown away about this mod, that we forgot to tell you two things: 1. if anybody knows where to get something like this drop us an email ASAP 2. if you get your hands on this mod, we would suggest you don’t change your front glass too, just the back. GSLO has announced that it has secured the rights to exclusively sell a new charging case in the US. The case is the Volt Solar Charger and has an internal battery and a solar panel on the back for charging on the go. Millennial Media has offered up the numbers for the mobile market based on ad impressions for December 2010. The numbers show that Apple is the most popular device maker on the market and has the second most popular OS behind Android. Case-mate has announced cases that will work with the Verizon iPhone 4. They will also work with the AT&T iPhone. Some odd designs are offered with one that looks like a penguin.
