Preview Of Real Racing 2 HD And Dual-Screen Gaming With iOS 5 On iPad 2

App Store, Apple, apple tv, AppStore, game, gaming, hdmi, ios, iPad, ipad 2, news, nintendo, video June 17th, 2011

For this game, you use the iPad as the controller — both while navigating through menus and in race mode — while the game appears only on your TV (though the tablet does display some vitals, and a map of the track). There’s noticeable lag between the iPad and Apple TV when using AirPlay, which may be an issue for games where timing is important, such as Rock Band, but didn’t seem to set us back while playing Firemint’s racing game. Overall, AirPlay offered a seamless gaming experience without a single hiccup — surprising, considering iOS 5 just hit beta last week. It’s difficult to do this hands-on justice without a video demo, so jump past the break for an exclusive look at wireless, dual-screen gaming on the iPad and Apple TV. [ via ]

Evernote Peek: The First iPad 2 Smart Cover App [video]

app, App Store, AppStore, ios, iPad, ipad 2, news June 8th, 2011

Evernote Peek is a free app designed to help you study, learn and strengthen your memory. Interacting with Peek is pretty intuitive. Once you’ve connected Peek to your Evernote account and selected your study materials, you simply close the Smart Cover and peek under it to see a clue. Raise the cover further to reveal the answer. To advance to the next clue, just close the cover and repeat. It’s totally new, and yet feels as familiar as lifting a page. Here’s how it works: Choose a notebook to study Close the Smart Cover Peek under the cover to see a clue, lift the cover more to see the answer Repeat Closing the Smart Cover advances the app to the next clue. If you get one wrong, tap the box marked incorrect–you’ll be able to re-test the incorrect ones. Create your own study notebooks: Adding your own study materials to Peek is easy, just connect Peek to your Evernote account. If you don’t have Evernote, get it for free on your iPad, desktop or mobile device. In Evernote, either choose an existing notebook or make a new one to use with Peek. The note title will become the clue and the note body will become the answer. For best results, keep the clue to one sentence and the answer to around three sentences. Evernote Peek is available for free in the app store …
