NaviX: XBMC Plugin For AppleTV 2 To Stream Full Movies And TV Shows [video] Post from: FSMdotCOM Want more content for your AppleTV? Another reason to cut the cable? Over the time we’ve showed you a lot of XBMC plugins for the AppleTV , including IceFilms – which allows you to stream full movies and TV shows via MegaUpload – but today, we got another killer plugin called NaviX. The Navi-X Media Browser is a “content aggregator” that provides access to all kinds of multimedia content, listed on a public directory of user contributed listings or playlists for playing on your TV or PC! Users can link to content and playback video, audio, pictures, podcasts, text, rss and html on the internet and share it with people around the world in seconds! Create fully customizable playlists with backgrounds, logos and icons as well as link to your favorite multimedia on the internet or browse the already existing directory of publicly available content, in one sleek, fast and unified application! 1. Download this  zip file ( make sure to leave it as a .zip file ) 2. Jailbreak, and install XBMC… the easiest way is through  NitoTV ( free ) 3. Once NitoTV is installed, use it to install XBMC. From there, you have to upload the zip file to your AppleTV. Use either an AFC2 app or openSSH to make an SFTP connection to the AppleTV’s IP address (find it in the ATV’s settings), username ‘root’ password ‘alpine’ (which is the default for ATV). The .zip files goes in the /private/var/mobile/Media folder. Once there, launch XBMC on your ATV, go to settings, Addons Manager, and select the Install from zip file (it’s in there somewhere…easy to find). 4. Once you’re done, you’ll find NaviX under Programs. Demo video of NaviX running on Boxee

app, Apple, apple tv, news March 16th, 2011

First Look: Loudmouth, Twitter App For The AppleTV 2 Post from: FSMdotCOM Do you use your jailbroken Apple TV for more than just renting movies from iTunes? Of course you do, otherwise why would you jailbreak it? New add-ons from devs are coming everyday, and here’s one that all of you social networking butterflies are going to love….Twitter has come to your ATV, and not just a webpage to view via a browser either..… a new app for the Apple TV 2. From Thomas Cool (@TomCool420) developer behind screenCapture, MainMenu Weather, and Overflow to name a few, comes a native Twitter client for your jailbroken ATV. This is the first Twitter Client for the ATV and by the smooth look and feel, a lot of work has gone into it. Currently in beta , we were given a chance to test it out. Currently there is no ETA for release, so please be patient. Fitting in the menu bar on the Apple TV, its just like any other app.Using the Apple remote app along with another iOS device, navigating thru the app is a breeze. Using the pop-up keyboard to post tweets is as simple as typing on a regular keyboard and hitting go! Even cooler than just your standard features such as DM, timeline and @replies, you can, if you have it installed, open links in CouchSurfer(web browser for the ATV) If you like this and want to see more updates and development from TomCool, please take a second to hit the donate button tomcool420@gmail.com

Banana TV: Use iOS Devices To Stream Video To The Mac

apple tv, ios, iPad, iPhone, Mac, news, video February 8th, 2011

Banana TV: Use iOS Devices To Stream Video To The Mac Post from: FSMdotCOM This handy tool turns the AirPlay pathway back around, allowing you to play video or images from your iPad, iPhone or iPod touch running iOS 4.2 or higher directly onto your Mac. While you probably have most of the same content on your computer that you have on your iDevice, it’s a great way to show videos on a bigger screen when visiting a friend or family member; it also opens up AirPlay streaming from iOS devices your friends or colleagues have with them, even if you don’t have an Apple TV (at the office, for example). No word on when Banana TV might be available or at what cost, but we will keep you updated. Stay tuned… [ via tuaw]

HOW TO: Control XBMC On Your AppleTV 2 With Your iOS Device

apple tv, news January 27th, 2011

HOW TO: Control XBMC On Your AppleTV 2 With Your iOS Device Post from: FSMdotCOM We showed you how to install XBMC on your AppleTV 2 ( manually and via nitoTV ), and on your iPhone and iPad. Today we’re going to show you how to control XBMC on your AppleTV 2 using your iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad. NOTE: the app we’re using, was the first ( and free ) app we’ve seen in the app store. We didn’t waste too much time to find a remote app, but feel free to browse around. NOTE: To avoid a shitload of emails. We’re not using a theme in the screenshots below. It’s just a wallpaper. Download here .. NOTE: This should go without saying, but your iOS device is not an infrared device. Your AppleTV and iOS device needs to be on the same WiFi network. 1. Go to XBMC’s github ( or w/e you want to call it ) and download the latest version of XBMC for AppleTV. At the moment, the file you need to download is ‘XBMC-ARM.atv2.012611.zip’ . Now, via SSH install it on your AppleTV 2. We’re not going into detail on how to do it, because there’s a ‘readme’ file in there that explains everything 2. On your iOS device, load the App Store app and search/install ‘uRemote XBMC’ . Read note no. 2 3. On the iPhone iPhone app, tap on the info button ( next to the volume slider ) and input your credentials and configurations: Server : your AppleTV iP Port: 80 ( or 8080 ) User: xbmc Password: no password 4. Open XMBC on your AppleTV and go to System > Network > Services and ‘Allow control of XBMC over HTTP ‘ 5. Enjoy
