Sennheiser launches range of “iPhone-optimised” closed headphones

accessories, earphones June 23rd, 2009

sennheiser-hd218-hd228-headphones.jpg

Sennheiser has announced a new line of “HD” closed headphones which are supposedly optimised for iPod, iPhone and other portable device use and are distinctly affordable.

The complete range of compact, lightweight and foldable HDs feature powerful neodymium magnets and ultra-light diaphragms and adjustable, comfortable ear cups.

The HD218 comes in at just £40 and offers punchy bass and decent mids and highs. The closed design helps to block both outside noise and sound leakage. They have a frequency response of 19 – 21000 Hz and weigh in at 224g with a 1.4m single-sided OFC cable.

For a tenner more, the HD228s offer extended treble (18 – 22000 Hz frequency response) and are available in either black or white finish.

Much more information available on the product pages: HD218 | HD228

iPhone 3G S comes with new featured headset

accessories, earphones June 23rd, 2009

iPhone 3G S headphones with remote and mic

iPhone 3G S comes with typical Apple headset buds, but for the first time these earbuds sport the new “remote”, which includes volume controls and more.

Apple previously introduced iin-ear headsets with remote and mic for the second generation iPod touch (and aluminum MacBooks) in September 2008, but clearly labeled them as not-compatible with the iPhone 2G or iPhone 3G because the “remote” part was useless.

What a different a generation makes.

  1. Volume Down button
  2. Center button
  3. Volume Up button

Full control scheme introduced with the 4th gen iPod shuffle is available to iPhone 3G S owners with one difference — holding down the center button activates Voice Control.
