Virgin Mobile has begun the sale of prepaid iPhones on its mobile network. The off contract price for the phone is expensive with a 16 GB iPhone 4S going for $649.99 with the iPhone 4 8 GB going for $549.99. Data plans start at $35 a month. Knut is a Wi-Fi enabled monitoring device that works in conjunction with an app that can operate on the iPhone. The monitoring device can keep eye on just about anything from your refrigerator door opening to the G’s a package you mail are subjected to. The project some Kickstarter right now. Apple has been tipped to be overhauling iTunes in an effort to improve sharing. The overhaul is said to have deeper integration with iCloud.

Zynga to launch cross-platform gaming service, iPhone generated $150 billion in revenue, Carbon Audio Zooka speaker dock

Zynga has announced that it’s working on a cross-platform gaming service called Zynga With Friends. The service will allow people using the iPhone, Android, Facebook and other platforms to play against each other in video games. Research firm Strategy Analytics has published a new report that claims the iPhone has generated $150 billion in revenue. The company also believes that about 250 million iPhones had shipped in total worldwide since the launch in 2007. Carbon Audio has announced that its new speaker dock called the Zooka is up for pre-order for a bit more than $99. The Bluetooth speaker dock will work with just about anything, and has a slot for holding your iPad or iPhone while you listen.

iOS 6 Beta 2 released to developers

I’m sure more than a few iPhone users out there are waiting in anticipation for iOS 6. The operating system brings new features and capabilities to the mix. This week Apple released a second beta for iOS 6 to developers called build 10A5338d. The build was noted to bring “bug fixes and improvements.” Only developers can get their hands on this version of the coming operating system and it’s a 322 MB download. The new version works with the latest iPad, the iPad 2, iPhone 4 S, iPhone 3GS and the fourth generation iPod Touch. Along with the beta is also available Apple TV Software beat 2 and Xcode 4.5 Developer Preview 2. iOS 6 will bring new features including the replacement of Google Maps with Apple’s own maps, deeper Facebook integration, and a Passbook. iPhone 5 to get 19-pin port, new iPhone port lockout some accessories, Belkin WeMo pre-order

Sources are claiming that the next iPhone will replace the 30-pin charge and sync port we all know with a smaller port. The new charge and sync port is said to be 19-pin, making it significantly smaller. Another source has said that the smaller port on the new iPhone will also lockout all unlicensed accessories. The downside is any accessories you have right now won’t work with the new iPhone. Belkin has announced that its WeMo home automation devices are now pre-ordering and shipping soon. There are two versions with one that allows an iOS app to turn anything plugged into it on and off in the other has a motion detector.

Official Google Offers app, AppCharge credit card reader, iOS and Android run away with smartphone market

Google has launched its official Google Offers app for iPhone users. The app has the same basic functionality as the Android app allowing users to find and use special offer deals. If you’re looking for an alternative to Square for mobile payments on your iOS device, AppCharge might do the trick. The service is virtually identical to Square where you sign up and get an attachment for the iPhone that acts as a portable credit card terminal. Android and iOS are together dominating the global smart device market. Together Android and iOS own 82% of the global smartphone market compared to slightly over 50% last year.

An ex AT&T worker has confessed to committing securities fraud when he sold AT&T iPhone sales information to stock traders. The worker faces two years in prison as part of a government crackdown on insider trading. D-Link has announced a new device aimed at iOS and other smartphone users. The device is called the DIR-505 SharePort and it offers a shared USB port that allows iPhone users to use an app to move files to and from connected storage devices. Apple has grabbed the exclusive chokehold on Liquidmetal for another two years. So far, the alloy has only been used in the SIM removal tool supplied with the iPhone and iPad. Rumors point to broader use of Liquidmetal in coming products.

AOC Aire iPlay monitor, The Kick lighting studio, iOS 6 podcast app

AOC has unveiled a new 23-inch full HD display that features an iPhone dock built into the base. The display is called the Aire iPlay and you can listen to music from your iPhone or iPod and charge your device. A new app is on Kickstarter called The Kick with the goal of turning your iPhone into a miniature lighting studio. The app will add effects such as strobes and even rainbows to the photos you take using your iPhone camera. Indications are that Apple could be integrating a podcast app into the final build of iOS 6. This rumor comes from the tip that the disappearance of podcasts from the latest version of iTunes is in preparation for the new app.

TomTom issued a press release yesterday that spilled the beans on them inside details on maps in iOS 6. TomTom noted that Apple had licensed some of its tech and it turns out the data could be coming from Waze. Apple is talking about some of the iOS 6 limitations ahead of the official launch for iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4 owners. One of the big limits is no FaceTime for 3G network users. iPhone 3GS users won’t get Shared Photo Streams either. If you’ve ever wondered what main features Android users might want steal from iOS , here’s a list. One of the things is Apple’s Passbook for credit card numbers. Others include Shared Photo Streams and accessibility and Guided Access.

Apple and GPS company TomTom have signed a new deal for maps. TomTom is providing the mapping data for Apple’s new custom maps application that debuted yesterday with iOS 6.0 at WWDC. Epson has unveiled a new printer called the Expression XP-400 Small-in-One . It will print, copy, and scan all taking up little space and supports direct printing from the iPhone. iTunes is been updated to version 10.6.3 with support for iOS 6.0. The new version of iTunes is available right now for download.

iOS 6 to debut at WWDC, Open Mirror dock, Apple prepares new app tracking tool

Apple’s annual WWDC kicks off today and were expecting some interesting things to surface at the show. One interesting thing that’s already been confirmed thanks to a banner is that iOS 6 will debut at the show. A cool design for an Apple dock has surfaced from the design company called Digital Habits for the iPhone called Open Mirror . The dock looks like a mirror with a sliding top section that hides the docking connector. It doesn’t appear that this isn’t a product you buy, but rather a design project. Apple is said to be preparing a new app tracking tool according to reports. The reports claim that the tracking tool would give developers accurate details about sales numbers and user engagement.
