HOW TO: Hide Or Get Rid Of Themes And Ringtones In Cydia

Cydia, news September 22nd, 2010

HOW TO: Hide Or Get Rid Of Themes And Ringtones In Cydia Post from: FSMdotCOM If you follow us on Twitter or Facebook , then you know I have a problem with all the themes and ringtones in Cydia. And it’s not just me. These days are way too many themes and ringtones ( instead of tweaks and add-ons ) , and the biggest problem of all, is that 99.8% of them suck! Well, if you are like me, and you really don’t care about them, you probably want to do something about it, so you won’t have to sort through 1000s of themes everytime you load Cydia. Let’s see what we can do… 1. Hide them That’s right, you can hide them. To do that, load Cydia go to ‘Selections’ and tap on ‘Edit’. Now you turn OFF everything that says ‘Themes’ and ‘Ringtones’. Depending on what repos you got installed you might want to be on a look-out for other words like ‘Graphics’ , ‘Sounds’ etc. Just browse around, see what you need and what you don’t. 2. Delete repo One of the biggest and most annoying repo is ZodTTD/MacCity. I got nothing against those guys, but holy f*ck, they are adding a whole lot of themes every day, without even checking if those themes are even worth storing on the repo. I mean, c’mon guys… you need some sort of quality control. Don’t just blindly add stuff to your repo. Just saying. Anyway, ZodTTD/MacCity repo is a default repo, and since they only host themes/ringtones , I didn’t even bother turning it off. I just SSH’d into my iPhone and deleted it. To do that, just SSH into your iOS device, browse to etc/apt/sources.list.d/ and delete zodttd.list… That’s it. I hope you this will help you as much as it helped me…
