Cydia, ios 4, news August 4th, 2010

Saurik Updates MobileSubstrate. Skype Issues Fixed… Post from: FSMdotCOM New day, new update in Cydia: MobileSubstrate. MobileSubstrate is a support framework used by iPhone projects like Winterboard and today’s update brings us to v 0.9.3226-1. There’s no official changelog, but one thing is for sure… it fixes all Skype issues jailbroken iOS users had. As you know, Skype polished up their app so it can play nice with iOS 4′s functionality. But jailbroken users couldn’t enjoy the app so far. By installing this update ( which is widely recommended, not just for Skype ) you will be able to enjoy Skype to its full potential. You can find MobileSubstrate for free in Cydia…

HOW TO: Unlock iPhone 3G/3Gs And iPhone 4 With Ultrasn0w

news August 4th, 2010

HOW TO: Unlock iPhone 3G/3Gs And iPhone 4 With Ultrasn0w Post from: FSMdotCOM YES! iPhone 4 unlock is finally here. The iPhone DevTeam just released their new version of ultrasn0w which will unlock your iPhone 3G/3Gs and iPhone 4. NOTE: T-Mobile USA uses different 3G freq than Apple “says” it supports. So you won’t get 3G , just EDGE. Most T-Mobile users in the USA using the iphone4 after tonight will need to disable 3G mode in Settings->General->Network For those who hand-cut your T-Mobile SIMs and still see “No SIM”, just be patient. Reposition it in the tray & try again NOTE: probably most of you will need to convert their SIM into a microSIM. Nothing to fear about. Read about microSIMs here , and here’s a great tutorial on how to do it. NOTE: ultrasn0w works with: iPhone4 baseband 01.59 3G/3Gs basebands

Jailbreaking Legal, But iPhone EULA Didn

Apple, iPhone, news August 4th, 2010

Jailbreaking Legal, But iPhone EULA Didn’t Change. Apple May Try To Brick Jailbroken iPhones… Post from: FSMdotCOM Even though jailbreaking and unlocking has been 100% legal for over a week now , InformationWeek notes that Apple didn’t change their iPhone EULA. “Apple strongly cautions against installing any software that hacks the OS,” Apple says in a bulletin on its support forum.” “It is also important to note that unauthorized modification of the iOS is a violation of the Phone end-user license agreement and because of this, Apple may deny service for an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch that has installed any unauthorized software,” the note states. The note was published last month, prior to the Library of Congress’ ruling that jailbreaking is not a violation of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act and is therefore legal. But the fact that the warning remains on Apple’s support site indicates the company does not believe the ruling supercedes the terms of the iPhone EULA. So, bottom line… avoid ANY future iOS updates. DO NOT update until the community confirms 100% it’s safe to do so…
