Backgrounder For iPhone, iPod and iPad Gets Updated To svn.r513-1

Cydia, news July 21st, 2010

Backgrounder For iPhone, iPod and iPad Gets Updated To svn.r513-1 Post from: FSMdotCOM New day, new update in Cydia: Backgrounder. Backgrounder allows for total control of backgrounding on an iOS based device. With backgrounder , you decide when an app should keep running and when it should quite. Today’s update comes with the following changes: NEW: added backgrounder method “Auto Detect” ( iOS 4.0+ only ) FIX: status bar icons now work with iOS 4.0+ ( requires pheonix 3200′s libstatusbar extension ) MOD: removed use of preferences symbolic link, as it is not needed. ( The symlink /.backgrounderrc is no longer used and can be deleted if desired. Some apps still have issues due to Apple’s sandbox; this will need to be fixed in a later release ) MOD: Changed maximum supported firmware version to 4.0.1  ( backgrounder purposely blocks untested firmware versions; this is to prevent the possibility of crashes with the new firmware . Jailbreakers should never upgrade to a new iOS firmware until they are certain that the firmware is jailbreakable and that the extensions they wish to use have been properly updated ) You can find backgrounder for free in Cydia via BigBoss repo

Making Of: Welikesmall iPod Wall [video]

Apple, news July 21st, 2010

Making Of: Welikesmall iPod Wall [video] Post from: FSMdotCOM This is a video showing the build of the Welikesmall iPod wall. It was made from 20 iPods over the course of about three weeks . Tasks included building and designing the wooden box, programming an iPhone application that runs off the Game Kit framework, hacking a USB hardware fan together, developing a Python / Django web server application, and designing a quick UI. To keep the wall constantly powered we used a Cambrionix B2 USB powered hub. Our current iPhone Application allows for 4 different modes, a screen saver mode, a full image split mode (the controlling iPod looks for an image and then the server executes a script to split that image among all 20 iPods), a single image grid mode (the controlling iPod tells the server to give a random image to each iPhone), and a hybrid mode which displays all three. In addition, the server is always checking to ensure that each iPod is synched.

Apple, news July 21st, 2010

Things That Make You Say OMFG: Apple’s Antenna Design and Test Labs [video] Post from: FSMdotCOM I’m sure you all know about Apple’s crazy-looking anechoic testing chambers that look like they subleased them from the X-Men movies. Apple has invested more than $100 million building its advanced antenna design and test labs. Apple’s engineers have logged thousands of hours designing and testing iPhone 4 in these state-of-the-art facilities. Apparently Apple has 17 testing chambers which, again, cost north of $100 million freaking dollars…
