If you are in the market for the iPhone 3G, you’ve probably encountered your local Apple Store being out of stock. Apple continues to replenish stock and even has their own availability application on their site. The site requires you to drill down in order to check your local availability. Utilizing Apple’s JSON file, Chris Barnes has created a “mashup” providing quick access to iPhone 3G availability across the country. Apple Retail Stores are now opening at 8 a.m every day, but Sunday to accomodate the demand.

At last check, only 1% of stores throughout the US had no 3G iPhones in stock. 87% have the 8GB in stock, 98% have the 16GB white in stock and only 92% have the 16GB black iPhone 3G in stock.

About iPhone Configuration Utility 1.0
iPhone Configuration Utility lets you easily create, maintain, and sign configuration profiles, track and install provisioning profiles and authorized applications, and capture device information including console logs.

Configuration profiles are XML files that contain device security policies, VPN configuration information, Wi-Fi settings, APN settings, Exchange account settings, mail settings, and certificates that permit iPhone and iPod touch to work with your enterprise systems.

LiveJournal.app has been upgraded to version 0.3.1. This upgrade is mostly about fixing previous version’s bugs rather than installing new features, but there are some of those as well.

What’s new:

• you can choose a userpic for each entry and choose your default userpic;
• now you can add new tags in the “edit entry” menu;
• the program now remembers your Location(s), so you’ll be able to choose one of the earlier specified locations when editing your entry (this locations menu will become available as soon as your save at least one location);
• progress bar for image upload now reflects the real upload progress;
• the option of choosing images is now available for versions below 1.1.3 (this hasn’t been tested);
• a menu with options to open the journal or the published entry opens up after successful publication.

What’s old:

• bug fix for ScrapBook authentication, which did not recognize usernames with _ (underscore);
• bug fix for application’s shutdown during posting with no internet connection;
• within the limits of one session the application does not upload the same pictures once more if they were specified for upload twice or if the connection was broken in the process of the posting;
• bug fix for mistakes found in the process of working with the tag selection table;
• bug fix for sometimes incorrect behavior of the Post button;
• several other insignificant bugs were fixed.

iPhone 3G, Exclusively from AT&T and Apple – | Wireless from AT&T, formerly Cingular

AT&T today confirmed that the iPhone 3G will go on sale at 8 a.m. local time on Friday, July 11th. AT&T has also outlined pricing and upgrade eligibility.

iPhone 3G will be available for $199 for the 8GB model and $299 for the 16GB model. These prices require two-year contracts and are available to the following customers:

• iPhone customers who purchased before July 11
• Customers activating a new line with AT&T
• Current AT&T customers who are eligible, at the time of purchase, for an upgrade discount

Existing AT&T customers who are not currently eligible for an upgrade discount can purchase iPhone 3G for $399 for the 8GB model or $499 for the 16GB model. Both options require a new two-year service agreement. In the future, AT&T will offer a no-contract-required option for $599 (8GB) or $699 (16GB).

Current customers may also choose to wait until they become eligible for an upgrade discount. Eligibility is generally determined by amount of time remaining on a current contract and payment history.

Current AT&T customers who are upgrading to iPhone 3G will pay an $18 upgrade fee and new AT&T customers will pay the standard $36 activation fee.

Voice, Data and Text Messaging Plans

AT&T brings iPhone 3G customers the best coverage on the globe and the largest mobile-to-mobile calling community with unlimited calling to AT&T’s 71.4 million wireless customers. iPhone 3G customers can choose from four individual AT&T Nation plans, which bundle voice and unlimited data (e-mail and Web browsing).

• AT&T NationSM Unlimited: Includes unlimited Anytime Minutes for $129.99 a month.
• AT&T Nation 1350: Includes 1350 Anytime Minutes and unlimited Night & Weekend Minutes for $109.99 a month.
• AT&T Nation 900: Includes 900 Anytime Minutes and unlimited Night & Weekend Minutes for $89.99 a month.
• AT&T Nation 450: Includes 450 Anytime Minutes and 5,000 Night & Weekend Minutes for $69.99 a month.

Small business customers may qualify for AT&T BusinessTalk, the industry’s only shared plan specifically for small businesses. All iPhone customers will benefit from the iPhone 2.0 software, which will be pre-loaded on all iPhone 3Gs and available as a free download for current iPhone customers.
